It is Spring Break! I only had to work the first two days of the week. And the last two have been marvelous. Monday was a bummer to work, though, because it was 80 degrees that afternoon! Our neighbor girls were out in their wading pool. The next day it snowed in their pool water. We checked the forecast on Tuesday afternoon, (after our visit to the library so we could stock up on Spring Break reading material) and made a list of things we want to do this week.
Yesterday was kind of cold, so we decided to pay a visit to the "tree house mall," our favorite indoor play spot, only to find that the tree house has been removed, replaced only by a tile floor and a bunch of dumb kiosks! My kids only believed that we were in the right spot, and that the tree house was actually gone, after I proved it to them by pointing out that Pretzel Maker was still right there on the corner. So we sat on a bench and ate some pretzel bites to console ourselves. (And this right after our trip to the other nearby mall a few weeks back also resulted in our discovery of a shut-down play area. Where to play on snowy spring breaks now, we want to know?) The best idea we could come up with was Dad's office, so we paid him a visit and the boys played "Ratchet and Clank" on the big TV there while I watched Lanny make waterfall effects. Then he took the older kids home while Cole and I finished our errands. I love that guy!
This afternoon we had some good sidewalk chalk weather, and we drew a whole school of fish on the patio. Also some very cute people. Self portraits, I believe. Are you impressed? I was.
Tomorrow is supposed to get up to 72, so we have planned some yard work and a bike ride to the school playground, with possibly even a picnic. And Saturday's forecast is for 76! I'm hoping to paint the outside doors! A nice shade of chocolate brown. Then Sunday, snow again. (I better paint the doors first thing Saturday so they can dry, huh?) Sunday afternoon is journals, letters, and finish up the paper crafts that we started today.
I love not going to work. I can't wait to be a stay-at-home mom! August is not so far away, huh? And then it's just me, my family, and my fun music classes to keep me busy. Plus I'm sure I'll find lots of other things, but hopefully not too many lots of things. I certified to be a "Let's Play Music" teacher last weekend, and can't wait to get started! It is such a great program, and I am going to love teaching it!
Oh, here's one thing that will be keeping me busy someday about 29 weeks from now: a baby. Yeah, we're adding numero quatro to the gang. The boys think a sister might be something, but we'll take what comes. (At the library the other day, I noticed the book "Choosing the Sex of Your Baby" on the shelf, but it's too late now. He or she has already been arbitrarily picked at random.) The official due date is November 7th. We are all quite excited.
Well, one other big plan I have for Spring Break is to update the blog (check--yay!) and post some more pics. Also, I'm going to see if Lanny can help me figure out why the cute slide show I made on photobucket won't show anything but a "broken feed" message. Maybe our blog will be cute soon. I need my cousin Amber to give me some lessons! (Hers is the Live.Laugh.Love link if you want a cuteness comparison...well, I can't compare, but maybe with some help?) Well, that's it for now.
